The Celebration is July 4th. The Work Begins July 5th.
Our community is coming together to mark something extraordinary — the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. On July 4th, we will do what Americans do best: gather, celebrate, honor our Founding Fathers, and give proper tribute to the remarkable men and women who had the courage to birth a nation on the radical idea that liberty is not granted by kings, but endowed by our Creator.
That day deserves every flag, every firework, and every moment of gratitude we can give it.
But July 5th is on our minds.
Benjamin Franklin, upon leaving the Constitutional Convention in 1787, was asked by Elizabeth Powel what kind of government the delegates had formed. His answer to her has echoed through the centuries: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
He was talking to Elizabeth Powel about her office as a citizen, and he is talking to us as well.
The spirit of 1776 was never just a moment in time — it was a charge to every generation. Liberty must be understood, defended, lived, and passed on. It doesn’t sustain itself. It requires informed citizens, engaged neighbors, and communities like ours who refuse to let it fade.
So as the Mini-Cassia America 250 Committee, we’re asking the big questions:
- How do we make this more than a party?
- How do we carry the flame of liberty forward for the next 250 years?
- How do we make sure our children and grandchildren not only know the story of this republic, but love it enough to keep it?
We need your voice, your ideas, and your commitment.
Join us on June 1st at 7:00 PM at Burley City Hall as we finalize our America 250 plans — not just for July 4th, but for celebrations and civic initiatives throughout all of 2026 and the years that follow. This is a community effort, and every family, every business, every civic organization in the Mini-Cassia area has a role to play.
Come ready to celebrate. Come ready to build.
Because the greatest tribute we can pay to the Founders isn’t a firework in the sky — it’s a republic still standing when the smoke clears.
