In honor of our Nation’s 250th year, Freedom 250, the organization President Trump, announced to lead our 250th celebration, will illuminate the Washington Monument into the world’s tallest birthday candle. From New Year’s Eve through Jan. 5, a six-night projection-mapping spectacle will illuminate the iconic Monument, creating a canvas that tells America’s story of discovery, expansion, revolution, independence, and innovation.
This illumination is the opening signature moment of a year-long series of Freedom 250 national events celebrating the triumph of the American spirit.
Jan. 1-5, 2026: 7 pm-11:30 pm (Fireworks on Jan. 5 at pm)
